SAINT NICHOLAS CONSTANTINE AND
HELEN PARISH MINISTRIES |
|
|

|
Not including our worship services, ministry is the most
significant part of the Christian life. Everyone has a ministry in this world.
Hopefully each individual's ministry to the world is based on the wonderful
and miraculous ministry that Christ left on the earth through his Apostles.
Here is an overview of the ministries, organizations and programs of our
parish:
Parish Council (View Section) | Our Parish is
administered by an elected Parish Council which must adhere to the Uniform
Parish Regulations of the Archdiocese of America... The mission of the parish
as defined in the Uniform Parish Regulations and therefore the mission
of the Parish Council is
to keep, practice and proclaim
the Orthodox Christian Faith pure and undefiled.
Philoptochos (View Section) | Our Parish's
Outreach is lead by a group of high-spirited women that make up the Sts.
Nicholas, Constantine and Helen Ladies Philoptochos Society. We have a strong,
vibrant Philoptochos that has raised and disbursed thousands of dollars
supporting local and national charities. Please join us to make a difference.
Each Philoptochos Chapter is evaluated based in part on numbers of members.
Please strengthen us by joining. Please call me or drop off your $25 dues
- which goes to charity. Support our fundraisers - like our cookbook - to
help us raise money for those in need.
G.O.Y.A. (View Section) | GOYA is the ministry
for Greek Orthodox students between grades 7 & 12. The goal of this group
is to form bonds of fellowship with peers, to solidify Greek Orthodox Christian
beliefs in the lives of teenage students while affording them the opportunity
to express their Faith. Members of GOYA participate in many activities throughout
the year...
Sunday Religious School (View Section) |
The general education our children receive today is simply not enough. In
a world that becomes ever more complicated and morally complex, our children
run the risk of lacking the spiritual and moral development to navigate their
way through these treacherous waters. Our children must balance the advancement
of their intellect through traditional schooling with the development of
their moral character through education in the Orthodox faith.
Greek School (View Section) | The history
of our Greek School dates back to 1918, a few years after the first Greeks
who came to New Jersey established our community of St. Nicholas in Newark.
The St. Nicholas community was founded and established as the first Greek
school in Newark.
Choir & Chanters (View Section) | The
Choir & Chanters in the Orthodox Church represent the congregation. The
Byzantine chanting is the dialogue between the people and the clergy. In
other words, the chanting speaks for the people...
Book Store (View Section) | The Sts.
Nicholas Constantine and Helen Resource Center, an Orthodox Christian bookstore,
makes available to everyone books, holy icons, gifts and music for the
edification of their spiritual lives. |
